Breathing new life into SCHAKO Klima-Luft: The new telecommunications landscape guarantees the company better customer service.
To grow, companies need space and the latest communication services. With this in mind, SCHAKO’s two sites in Kolbingen and Heudorf have been equipped with a new telecommunications system and new network technology. Initially, the two factories had communicated via separate networks. As a consequence, workers in Kolbingen could only forward customer calls to the colleagues in Heudorf using external dial-up lines – and vice versa. Things have changed: T-Systems has now linked the two sites with the GES systems integrators to create a new corporate network.
Among other things, this means that it is no longer a problem for staff at Germany’s second largest manufacturer of air-conditioning components to forward customer calls to the right co-worker. Customers no longer notice that the factories are separate. They simply call the relevant hotline number and the integrated call manager from Cisco forwards them to the appropriate service or sales representative.
Internal cooperation is now much easier too. This is because staff can now access all company data at all times – whatever their location – enabling logistical tasks to be handled more flexibly. The new WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network) means that all material data and orders can be recorded using bar code readers and transferred directly to material management. This speeds up the production processes. “Our two-site network benefits both customers and company alike,” explains Roland Schröter, production manager at Kolbingen and administrator for the factories in Germany.
