Cost Cutting

Hi doc, are you online?

T-Systems bridges gaps between patients and doctors with a highly-secure unified communication and collaboration platform for the Asklepios Future Hospital initiative.
“Hi doc,” has been the word at Asklepios clinics since 2009. The association has been testing how to connect doctors and patients across facilities with their Asklepios Future Hospital (AFH) initiative. Unified communication and collaboration via a T-Systems UCC platform solution is being employed. With “hallodoc,” doctors can use PCs at different sites to discuss therapy and medication or get a second opinion from other specialists. The solution is particularly designed to help chronically ill patients, who often only come to the hospital for brief consultations, avoid tiring trips by consulting their doctors online.
Noticeable quality improvements
“Today many patients are being treated as data sources,” criticized Jörg Focke, speaker for the AFH program at Asklepios. “Everything's being done twofold, threefold, fourfold, even when it comes to examinations and results. It's unpleasant for patients, means more work for doctors and lots of money for insurers.” The Berelcon fall report reviews a T-Systems solution that shows things can be different. The conclusion: “A better connection with UCC shows noticeable improvements in quality, efficiency and customer service in concrete cases.” Doctors can offer consultation even when they are not on duty, hospital stays can be shortened and costs for treatment reduced.
